 sfully\nhosting the inaugural SADC Sustainable Energy Week in February 202
 5\nand subsequently directed the SADC Secretariat and its subsidiary\ninst
 itutions to support the Government of the Republic of Zimbabwe in\nhosting
  the 2026 edition of the SADC SEW.\n\nThe inaugural SADC SEW was held in G
 aborone\, Botswana\, from 24 to 28\nFebruary 2025\, culminating in 18 acti
 onable recommendations that have\nsince been incorporated into the operati
 onal plans of the SADC\nSecretariat and SACREEE. Key recommendations inclu
 ded achieving\nuniversal energy access as a foundation for economic growth
  and\ndevelopment\; strengthening private sector participation in addressi
 ng\nregional energy challenges\; implementing innovative financing\nmechan
 isms\, including the mobilisation of pension funds and insurance\nportfoli
 os and the establishment of dedicated energy funds\; and\nprioritising loc
 al manufacturing of renewable energy components to\nreduce import dependen
 cy and stimulate job creation.\n\nIn this regard\, the 2026 SADC Sustainab
 le Energy Week will be jointly\nhosted by the Ministry of Energy and Power
  Development of Zimbabwe and\nSACREEE under the theme_: “Driving Regiona
 l Economic Growth through\nClean Energy and Energy Efficiency.”_\n\nThe

 NFORM\nSubnational Risk Model across SADC Member States.\n\nBetween 2025 a
 nd 2026\, the SADC Secretariat working closely with all\nMember States is 
 implementing the INFORM Subnational Risk Model to\nstrengthen shared risk 
 analysis and promote evidence-based\ndecision-making across development an
 d humanitarian sectors. The\nrollout is supported by GIZ\, United Nations 
 Development Programme\n(UNDP)\, MapAction\, and other strategic partners.\
 n\nThe INFORM Subnational Risk Model is a robust risk assessment\nframewor
 k that delivers granular provincial\, municipal\, and\ncommunity-level ins
 ights through a Subnational Risk Index. By aligning\nstrategies and progra
 mmes to specific locations and types of risk\, the\nmodel enhances prepare
 dness\, resilience planning\, and coordinated\nresponse across the region.
 \n\nAhead of the workshop\, the INFORM Subnational Risk Model technical\nt
 eam will undertake a pre-workshop mission from 6-9 February 2026 to\nthe S
 ADC Humanitarian and Emergency Operations Centre (SHOC)\, located\nin Naca
 la District\, Nampula Province\, Mozambique.\n\nThe mission aims to assess
  SHOC’s infrastructure and operational\nreadiness to host and manage the
  INFORM Subnational Risk Model as a\nsustainable regional platform for:\n\
 n*\nRisk information management\n\n*\nMulti-hazard early warning systems\n
 \n*\nCapacity building and knowledge exchange\n\n
